With restrictions still in place for much of the year, it wasn’t a particularly good time for celebrity weddings.
However, those who got married made the most of it by wearing some serious knockout dresses. Take Lady Kitty Spencer – the daughter of Diana, brother Earl Spencer of the Princess of Wales – who has just married the multi-billion dollar fashion tycoon Michael Lewis in an opulent Dolce & Gabbana dress.
Spencer is a global ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana, and the dress was Victorian-inspired with lots of lace, eye-catching shoulders and a mega train. Celebrities like Pixie Lott and Idris Elba were reportedly at their Italian wedding.
It’s a statement dress for sure, and Spencer isn’t the only celebrity who’s enjoyed bridal wear this year …
1. Ariana Grande
The pop star kept things low profile for her intimate wedding to Dalton Gomez. The guest list for the ceremony at Ariana Grande’s California home was small, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t opt for a dreamy wedding dress anyway.
Grande wore an outfit from the queen of weddings: Vera Wang. The simple but elegant dress was strapless, backless, made of luxurious silk and paired with a short veil.
2. Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani also invited Vera Wang to her wedding to country singer Blake Shelton. Stefani wore an eye-catching dress with a textured bodice, tulle that fell from the skirt, and a veil embroidered with her family’s names.
In true pop star fashion, Stefani changed her outfit for the reception – after all, you need a shorter skirt to dance (although the jury is still on their white stiletto cowboy boots). Wang called this outfit “a dress for fun” and Stefani wrote on Instagram: “You need a party dress if you can marry @blakeshelton”.
3. Lara stone
Supermodel Lara Stone kept things simple and summery to marry real estate developer partner David Grievson. She wore a dress from Tephi, a London brand that she models for.
The embroidered V-neck dress was loose and flowing, with three-quarter sleeves and a delicate veil.
4. Emma Bunton
Emma Bunton flipped the script for traditional long wedding gowns to marry long-time partner Jade Jones. She wore a white mini dress by Miu Miu, with long, transparent sleeves and a matching cape.
She was even featured in one of the summer’s biggest shoe trends: thong sandals.
5. Jeannie May
American TV presenter Jeannie Mai chose a classic princess dress to marry rapper Jeezy. Galia Lahav’s blushed dress featured details on the corset, a layered skirt and a 4.5 meter long veil.
