Wedding ceremony venues say they’re able to open once more

Wedding venues, banquet halls and large catering facilities can reopen on June 1st. And some venues say they are ready to open now.

June is a popular month for weddings, but Melissa Stroupe, sales and events manager for the barn in Stratford, Delaware, says many of the celebrations booked for that month have been canceled or postponed. She says her facility, which is a great source of funding for the Delaware County Historical Society, is ready to open.

“Our room offers space for over 200 people. We can easily remove groupings of ten or less over distances greater than six feet to accommodate social distancing and best practices for our customers, “says Stroupe.

Stroupe says all staff, caterers, and anyone who is not a guest will also wear masks in the facility. She says a wedding has been booked at the facility for May 31st. State officials said event centers cannot reopen until June 1, so the couple will have to wait until midnight to celebrate the event or to book for a later date.

The state’s new reopening recommendations require venues to follow protocols similar to those used for restaurants – safe social distancing, disinfection, and the wearing of masks by staff.
