Wedding ceremony pictures: Sharia police take motion in opposition to Buhari’s son’s fiancée

Wedding photos: Sharia police take action against Buhari's son's fiancée

Kano State Sharia Police, Hezbah, have banned the sharing of photos prior to the wedding of the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Nasir Ado Bayero, Zahrah, who is also the fiancée of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The pre-wedding photos showed Zahrah’s shoulders and this has drawn a lot of criticism from northerners who consider the pre-wedding photos to be inconsistent with Islamic doctrine and Hausa / Fulani culture.

Many critics also accused Hezbah of indulging in such immoral behavior on the daughter of the revered traditional ruler and future daughter-in-law of President Buhari.

They argued that Hezbah has a responsibility to monitor and sanction people who violate Islamic laws in the state and, as such, the emir’s daughter should be brought to order.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Hezbah’s Kano general commander Harun Ibn-Sina said that the emir’s daughter was not above the law and was not a good example for other Muslims.

According to him, the board of directors condemned the actions of the Emir’s daughter as well as those of other Muslims who shared their photos and videos before the wedding, claiming they had sinned.

BBC Pidgin said, “Sheikh Ibn Sina said the Emir daughter, who is a Muslim, is not above the law and is believed to lead by example if she wants blessings on her marriage. The head of Di Hisbah also criticizes Pipo Wey Dey for sharing photos and videos from di events and says that it is not a sin to share the materials. “
