It’s no secret that celebrities know how to get married in style. With access to unlimited money, extravagant rings, outfits and decorations, and the very best of super-secret locations, celebrity weddings give us endless details to ponder.
While many of their ceremonies can be over the top, they are loved and remembered by fans around the world for years.
Beyoncé and Jay Z. Celebrate her celebrity wedding 13 years later
On April 4, 2008, Beyoncé and Jay Z tied the knot in a secret ceremony in New York City. For the occasion, Beyoncé had 70,000 white dendrobium orchids (weighing 750 pounds) flown in from Thailand to decorate Jay’s 13,500-square-foot Tribeca penthouse.
The corridor was lined with floating candles and trees. Only 40 lucky guests were in attendance, including Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, members of Destiny’s Child, as well as Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow.
For the ceremony, Beyoncé wore a beautiful strapless ivory sweetheart neckline (designed by her mother Tina Lawson) and a chic dress for the reception party. The guests danced to a selection of the couple’s own hits, including Crazy in Love, until almost 5 a.m.
Ciara and Russell Wilson but threw
After just eleven months of dating, Russell Wilson, a Seattle Seahawks soccer quarterback, proposed an extravagant, stunning engagement ring to R&B singer Ciara. The supposedly 16-carat sparkler marked a diamond cut center surrounded by four diamond baguettes.
The couple soon married in a chapel at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. Close family members and friends attended the fairytale wedding ceremony, notably Kelly Rowland, Lala Anthony, Jennifer Hudson, and David Otunga.
Ciara wore a special Roberto Cavalli dress with lace sleeves and a full skirt, while Russell wore a Giorgio Armani suit. The future Zahir, Ciara’s son, was named ring bearer while wearing a suit designed by Giorgio Armani.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade kept her wedding simple yet extravagant
After around five years of marriage, actress Gabrielle Union married NBA star Dwyane Wade in an extravagant ceremony at the beautiful castle-like Chateau Artisan in Miami.
Gabrielle wore a stunning custom Dennis Basso gown with a sweetheart neckline and a hand-sewn bodice adorned with pearls, crystals and bugle beads.
Around 200 guests were in attendance, including NBA stars Lala Anthony and her husband Carmelo Anthony.
John Legend also performed live during the Union (which got an upscale 1930s theme). Gabrielle walked down the hall to his song “You and Me”.
As a drink, guests enjoyed a sip of Gabrielle’s own branded wine, Vanilla Puddin ‘Chardonnay, imported directly from the Napa Valley. To top it off, the couple even performed their own choreographed handshakes shortly after being announced as husband and wife.
Celebrity weddings always impress. Beyoncé and Jay Z, Ciara and Russell Wilson, and Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have arguably had some of the most memorable celebrity ceremonies to date.
