The very best midweek wedding ceremony locations for each couple

The best midweek wedding destinations for every couple

It used to be a faux pas, but with event dates from the big break of 2020, couples looking to get married are looking beyond the coveted Saturday to set a date. The midweek wedding has a big moment and the venues respond with exaggerated perks to cater to the weekday audience.

Casa de Campo, a luxury resort in the Dominican Republic, is one of many destinations that are responding to increasing weekday demand with offers full of perks that add to the appeal of a wedding date. “We have seen a huge boom in wedding group rebooking for 2020 and for those couples looking for another date to celebrate their dream event; we felt this weekday wedding package would serve them wonderfully!” says Theresa Calcos, Sales Manager for Weddings and Celebrations at Casa de Campo Resorts & Villas. “Our wedding team has created unique experiences for so many couples’ special days, and the midweek wedding package really showed that we can put together a complete event itinerary around a Casa de Campo wedding regardless of size, length or even day of the week . ”

With many venues following suit, the overwhelming choice of weekday event incentives makes deciding where to book the hardest choice for couples planning a midweek soiree. So what makes a good weekday wedding destination? We asked wedding planners across the country to weigh what to consider when choosing your venue during off-peak hours.

Make a vacation out of it

“I find destination weddings make better weekday plans. Consider asking your friends and family to make it a vacation instead of just coming into town for a Wednesday night wedding,” offers Laura Maddox , Owner of Magnolia Celebrates. “This of course requires more effort from your guests, but it also means they will focus on the wedding as if it were a weekend … work the next morning.”

Avoid big cities

“When you make midweek wedding plans, you avoid big cities where you have to battle heavy workweek traffic,” advises Sarah Blessinger, owner of Kindred Weddings and Events. “Instead, think of the cities near larger metropolitan areas. A slightly more secluded location that can have the feel of a weekend getaway can also help get your guests in the mood to break away from the work week and celebrate outdoor car camps, glamping, cabins, or nature retreats as potential host venues for your wedding. ”

Plan advanced events

“There’s a much better chance of booking your dream location on a Wednesday than on a Saturday … and a mid-week wedding is so Euro-chic! Destination resorts are great mid-week venues if you’re getting married on a Thursday , you can plan an extended series of events, a dinner on Friday, a picnic on Saturday and a farewell brunch on Sunday! ” notes Syrie Roman, owner of Social Maven.

Look at your guests

“Places that make better weekday wedding plans are easy to get to for most guests. Ideally, it’s not far and not a place where guests have to contend with heavy traffic to get … especially their hometown Destinations that make better weekday wedding plans are the ones that are cheaper and quieter during the week, “says Jamie Chang, destination owner and wedding planner at Mango Muse Events. “While almost all destinations are busier on the weekend, some are almost pure weekend destinations. Having your wedding on a weekday in these destinations can benefit not only your wallet, but your wedding as well.”
