Budding bride Emily Drummond dropped a staggering five dress sizes after vowing that her wedding photos would never be her “before” pics for weight loss.

The 26-year-old went from size 20 to size 10 by giving up counting calories and eating the food she loved.

“I came to Slimming World in January 2020 and weighed 18st 4lb,” says Emily, who has now lost more than 6th after being spurred when her boyfriend Paul Campbell asked the question.

“I can’t believe how far I’ve come.

“I would never have believed in my life that I would have lost the sixth if I had the freedom to enjoy the foods I like.

She is super slim

“I switched from size 20 to size 10 and can’t wait to walk down the aisle in the wedding dress I have chosen.

“The date is set for September and we are recording everything so that we can have the wedding we have dreamed of.”

It wasn’t the easiest trip for Emily, however.

“I had tried to lose weight for years and felt like I had tried every weight loss method available,” she says.

“But I never managed to stay on it for more than three days.

“I found the calorie counting way too vague and I was always amazed that you can have something to take with you as long as it’s within your calorie count.”

A study by Slimming World found that Emily of Newcastle, Co. Down was nowhere near alone when it came to counting calories.

Almost three quarters of adults said they felt they were being deprived of their freedom to enjoy food.

Carolyn Pallister of Slimming World agrees, saying, “From a health perspective, it’s important to think about the foods you eat, not just the calories in them.”

It was the hardest

It was the hardest

While Emily’s goal was to be a slimmer bride, Paul’s suggestion followed an all-you-can-eat vacation and a trip to Las Vegas, and by Christmas 2019 it was the heaviest she had ever been.

“Christmas Eve brought the last straw,” she says.

“My mother gave everyone a pair of matching pajamas. I opened mine and saw that they were size 20, that was it. “

A fortnight later, she joined Slimming World and “never looked back”.
