Whether you’re looking for the perfect venue or just want to see where some of your favorite stars said “I do”, we’ve rounded up a selection of places that have garnered the stamp of approval from celebrities like Michelle Keegan and Rachel Riley.
Although 2020 has been a rather quiet year for weddings so far (thanks to coronavirus), places outside of our county have seen many famous faces walking down their aisles in the past.
Suffolk is home to some of the most beautiful and unique venues in the country, from stunning stately halls to grand barns. Our county has a wide variety of tying-the-knot locations to choose from.
Just down the street, the beautiful county is a top choice for A-listers to get married and live by.
Here are just a few of the famous faces who took their vows, kissed their partners, and said goodbye to a single life in places nearby.
Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan
First up, we have Hengrave Hall in Suffolk, which is a hot spot for weddings and celebrity receptions.
This stunning Tudor mansion hosted one of 2015’s most iconic weddings, where Essex boy Mark Wright celebrated his wedding to former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.
Not only did they have the reception just down the street, but Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Bury St. Edmunds before moving to their reception at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk.
The beautiful mansion is considered to be one of the best wedding locations in the region. The picturesque gardens provide the perfect backdrop for photos. So it’s no wonder these love birds chose it for their big day.
Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn
Claudia Schiffer married producer Matthew Vaughn in May 2002 at St. George’s Church from the 14th century in the village of Shimpling in Suffolk.
The wedding itself took place in front of around 300 family members and friends, including Guy Ritchie, tennis star Boris Becker and former Hollywood star Vinnie Jones.
Italian designer Valentino was also in attendance after creating Schiffer’s stunning ivory silk wedding dress.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to the couple’s home in Coldham Hall, also just down the street in Suffolk, for a wedding dinner in a huge marquee on the premises.

Following the trend of Suffolk weddings, Hengrave Hall also hosted Rachel Riley’s wedding to her college sweetheart, Jamie Gilbert.
The classic wedding venue has an on-site chapel and sits on 350 acres with over 1,000 David Austen roses planted on the premises. This makes it a top choice for famous faces.
In August 2012, Riley married Jamie Gilbert, whom she met while studying at the University of Oxford.
Unfortunately, it was announced in November 2013 that they were separating and the split was cited as an example of the “severe curse”. Shortly after the show ended in December 2013, she started dating her strictly dance partner, Pasha Kovalev.
In May 2019, Riley announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, and in June 2019, Riley and Kovalev were married in Las Vegas.

No surprises here! Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn are also on the list of celebrities who got married in Suffolk, their hometown.
Ed Sheeran married his childhood sweetheart at a top-secret winter wedding that didn’t invite celebrities.
The superstar singer hosted the ceremony at his Suffolk estate just before Christmas in 2018, despite his plans to build a wedding chapel on site were turned down.
Later in 2019, the couple celebrated their wedding with a fun, carnival-inspired party nine months after they tied the knot. Once again the party was in Suffolk.
Ed and Cherry married in a private ceremony with 40 of their closest friends and family, but were joined by guests such as Jennifer Aniston, Elton John and Princess Eugenie to the after-party to celebrate later in the year.
