A Country Wedding is perhaps one of the most romantic and memorable films the Hallmark Channel has released recently. It premiered on June 27, 2015, much to the delight of fans, starring Jesse Metcalfe, Autumn Reeser and Lauren Holly.
The plot without a spoiler
The romantic film tells the story of the country music sensation Bradley Sutton, who is about to marry Catherine, a beautiful Hollywood actress. But before his wedding, the country star returned to his small-town roots to sell his family’s former home and eventually crossed paths with sweetheart Sarah Standor.
Sarah, a small ranch owner, helped Bradley regain the joy of the simple things in life that he had since neglected. Now that he’s got back to his cowboy roots, Bradley felt the need to reassess his life and values and inspired him to start writing songs again.
As his wedding day approaches, Bradley has to decide who his heart really belongs to.

1. Jesse Metcalfe as Bradley Suttons
Jesse Metcalfe was born in California and studied film and television at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Metcalfe first appeared on the small screen in NBC’s daily drama Passions in 1999 – where it enjoyed five years of success. The actor took a brief hiatus from the show to pursue other opportunities and returned for his final appearance in 2005.
But Metcalfe became famous when he appeared as a teenage gardener on ABC’s megahit series “Desperate Housewives”. His role, which had a forbidden affair with a married housewife – Eva Longoria’s character – caught some media attention and definitely earned Metcalfe some followers. His role on the show helped him win the Choice TV Breakout Performance: Male Award at the Teen Choice Awards.
In addition to actresses Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow and Ashanti, Metcalfe also played the title character in 20th Century Fox, John Tucker Must Die. The comedy film followed three girls who seek revenge on serial cheater John Tucker by breaking their hearts with the help of the new girl in town.
2. Autumn Reeser as Sarah Standor
Autumn Reeser has an extensive career and film on television. She is famous for her ability to skillfully balance comedy and drama, especially in her roles on HBO’s Entourage and ABC’s No Ordinary Family. She was also a regular at the Last Resort and had a recurring role on CBS’s “Hawaii Five-O.
And she’s definitely a familiar face to many Hallmark Channel viewers who starred in several of the network’s original films, including “Love on the Menu,” “All Summer Long,” “Christmas Under the Stars” and “A Glenbrooke Christmas”.
In addition, Reeser is a long-time theater actress. Today she is the mother of two children and lives in Los Angeles.
3. Laura Mennell as Catherine Mann
The Canadian actress has built an illustrious and eventful career over the years. She is best known for her roles in shows such as Syfy’s “Alphas,” in which she was nominated by the Leo Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress, and Warner Brothers, who directed the 2009 superhero film “Watchmen”. Mennell also has recurring and guest roles on popular series such as Fox’s “Fringe” as well as The CW’s “Supernatural” and “Smallville”.
The actress has also appeared on a number of Hallmark Channel Original series such as The Christmas Ornament, Gourmet Detective and When Calls the Heart.
4th Lauren Holly as Margaret Feldburg
Lauren Holly is one of the most admired actresses in Hollywood. One of her most memorable roles, in which she has shown her versatile talent, is Netflix’s recently completed drama thriller Tiny Pretty Things. In 2019, she also completed her season arc with Netflix’s “Designated Survivor”.
She has also appeared on several other series, including the CTV / ABC series “Motive”, the NBC miniseries “Jackie, Ethel and Joan: Women of Camelot,” to name a few.
The actress had her breakthrough in a movie when she joined the blockbuster Dumb and Dumber alongside Jim Carrey. Since then, Holly has received several film credits in her prestigious career. These include the 1999 American sports drama film Any Given Sunday, starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. She appeared in 1999 alongside Harrison Ford in the romantic comedy film Sabrina.
Where it was filmed
Just like the other romance films like A Very Country Wedding, the film has several scenes with beautiful backgrounds and picturesque locations. Much of A Country Wedding was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is a major filming location for several films and television shows such as Riverdale, The Vampire Diaries, and many more.
Another film location happens to be the Canadian city of Chilliwack. The difference between these two locations is that Vancouver has a more urban look in the film, while Chilliwack has many locations with natural landscapes – perfect for barn wedding locations.
Songs in the movie
The film also features dreamy songs that make it even more romantic. These include Dan Kosub’s “Back When I Could Call You Mine,” Colin Kennific’s “Love Was Here All This Time,” and Deana Carter’s “I Never Stopped Loving You” – one of the greatest country wedding songs of all time.
