England coach Gareth Southgate may have been on the pitch for Euro ’96 himself, but 1997 might have been an even more memorable year for the star as he tied the knot with partner Alison Bird.

The couple stood in front of the church door and posed for photos. Since Gareth was an Aston Villa player at the time, there was some media interest in their incredible wedding.

Many England fans will be surprised that the executive who wore the West on their big day skipped it and instead chose a cream suit and paired it with a pastel purple tie and shiny black shoes.

The couple had a traditional church wedding

The bride looked beautiful in a traditional wedding dress with a ball gown-style tulle skirt and a satin top with an off-the-shoulder neckline. She channeled royalty with a crown-like tiara adorned with hundreds of precious stones, and her simple veil hung behind the headdress.

The bride looked so stunning

Alison chose to wear her blonde hair in an updo and she kept her makeup classic with just a touch of nude lipstick.

Her hand-lined bridal bag was the perfect place to stash her beauty essentials, and it’s just visible behind her cascading bouquet of white flowers, green foliage, and straw accents.

Gareth chose his soccer star Andy Woodman as his best man

While the pictures don’t show much of the guests or the bridal shower, one photo shows Gareth standing next to his best man, former Crystal Palace goalkeeper Andy Woodman. The men all smiled even though they posed under a large umbrella when it rained.
