(Seychelles News Agency) – The Seychelles are increasingly recognized as a popular destination for weddings and honeymoons.

The Fregate Island Private has been voted one of seven of the world’s most luxurious honeymoon destinations. The ranking was compiled by Australia’s largest global online travel website, FlightNetwork. Emma Hill, Content Marketing Manager, said the list was carefully chosen.

“As part of this work, we sifted through the best honeymoon destinations to find the most exquisite and lavish getaways for newlyweds who want a vacation of absolute splendor,” said Hill.

Hill said that “this list is filled with the most luxurious and sumptuous resorts, villas, and hotels to make honeymooners shine with happiness.”

The Dolphin Islands in Fiji, Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef in Australia and Como Cocoa Island in the Maldives were also selected.

Last month, the islands of the Seychelles were voted one of the 20 most beautiful wedding destinations in the world. The best wedding award 2017 took place in Beijing and was organized with the magazines National Humanity History and Cosmo Brides.

Sherin Francis, Executive Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board, said: “Such awards re-emphasize one of the most important niche markets in the Seychelles, namely the romance of the wedding and honeymoon market in general. It will definitely give us extra visibility and mileage in China. “

The Seychelles, as well as other islands in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius, Reunion and the Maldives, were on the list.

According to the St. Ange Tourism Report, “the organizers went through the online registration process, obtained the recommendation of key opinion leaders, and voted online to ultimately confirm the 20 most beautiful wedding destinations in the world.”

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there were 2,367 visitor weddings in Seychelles last year, a number that has steadily increased. In 2011, 1,059 couples in the Seychelles said “I do”. In 2013 the number rose to 1,201 and in 2016 there were 1,695 visitor weddings.

Jeanina Edmond of All Occasions’ Décor and Flowers has been hosting weddings for foreigners for over five years. Edmond said the majority of her clients prefer a beach wedding.

“Foreigners almost always prefer a sea-view or sunset wedding,” Edmond said.

According to Edmond, “their requests include an arch or a canopy. They tend to prefer tropical flowers. Frangipani is high on the list, but they also ask for roses. And most of them choose white as their preferred color. “

Edmond adds that in addition to the bridal bouquet and buttonholes for the groom, “flower garlands, hair and bracelets, a wedding cake and champagne are high on the list.”

Edmond said that most of the time their customers also plant a small coconut tree that also has a wooden plaque with their names on it. On future visits, the couples visit their trees – a nice reminder of a beautiful day in a beautiful country.
