Celebrity weddings tend to be a grand affair that screams opulence, with days of celebrations and the participation of outstanding figures from the film fraternity. However, the big fat Indian weddings have gotten restrained this year amid the pandemic, even for celebrities who tied the knot in 2020. From Rana Dagubbati to Neha Kakkar to Kajal Aggarwal, there’s a round of celebrities who got married during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar

After much speculation, the actress Gauahar Khan was inspired by the love of her life, the actress-dancer Zaid Darbar, at an inconspicuous wedding on December 25th. The celebrations matched the couple’s hashtag #GaZabKaHaiDin, which lasted a few days and ended with a grand reception with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, designer Manish Malhotra and many others in attendance.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma

#DhanaSaidYuz came after Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal was “rocafed” by Dhanashree Verma, a choreographer and YouTuber, in August. The couple became engaged in September, just before Chahal flew for IPL, and were arrested in Gurugram on December 22nd in a small private ceremony after returning from his trip to Australia.

Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet Singh

Many fans took singers Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet Singh’s wedding announcement on October 9 as a prank, but the couple was arrested on October 24 according to Hindu and Sikh rituals. Their wedding celebrations were #NehuDaVyah and stretched over several days, with events taking place in Mumbai, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Kajal Aggarwal and Gautam Kitchlu

Actor Kajal Aggarwal, who made a name for himself in the Telugu-Tamil film brotherhood, married entrepreneur Gautam Kitchlu in a private ceremony surrounded by immediate families on October 30 in Mumbai.

In an intimate ceremony, TV presenter and singer Aditya Narayan and the son of famous singer Udit Narayan married long-time friend Shweta Aggarwal at the famous ISKCON temple in Mumbai in Juhu. The duo tied the knot on Narayan’s birthday, December 1st.

Punit Pathak and Nidhi Moony Singh

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the choreographer and actor Punit J Pathak married his beloved girlfriend Nidhi Moony Singh on December 11th at a resort in Lonavala. The wedding rituals and celebrations lasted two days.

Niti Taylor and Parikshit Bawa

Television actor Niti Taylor married her fiancé Pariskshit Bawa on August 13 in a quiet little affair in a Gurudwara in Gurugram. Taylor, known for her work on popular television series, went on social media in October to publicize the wedding. She was engaged to Bawa, an army officer, for two years.

Manish Raisinghan and Sangeita Chauhaan

Actor Manish Raisinghan, popular for his role in the television series Sasural Simar Ka, married his girlfriend and actress Sangeita Chauhan in a close ceremony. The two, who met and fell in love on the TV show Ek Shringar Swabhiman (2016), got married in a small ceremony on June 30th in a gurudwara in Juhu, Mumbai.
